Discover Fort Erie Railway Museum: A Journey through Railroad History

Located on Central Avenue at 400 Central Ave, Fort Erie, ON L2A 3T6. The Fort Erie Railway Museum houses railroad memorabilia. The museum also houses a CN B-1 station, which was used to monitor traffic crossing the International Railway Bridge. The museum also contains telegraphic equipment and railway tools. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.

The museum offers a number of displays, which feature items associated with railways and excursion railways in Fort Erie. There are also exhibits that are devoted to the history of the First Nations in Fort Erie. The museum also has a reference library that is open daily, as well as a gift shop. The museum's main feature is the Canadian National Railway steam engine 6218, which was built in 1942. The steam engine was decommissioned in the 1960s, and remains as the museum's main artifact. this page

The museum also features an outdoor exhibit that explains the historical significance of the Battle of Ridgeway. This battle was fought on June 2, 1866, and was a major turning point in the history of Canada. The battle sparked the Confederation of Canada. It also served as a warning to the Americans, and prompted President James Madison to declare war against Britain.

Journey Back In Time Gallery

The museum also has a gallery called Mewinzha: A Journey Back in Time, which traces thousands of years of human history in Fort Erie. The gallery also features archaeological artifacts from the Peace Bridge site.

The Museum also has a temporary gallery that features exhibits related to the War of 1812. The museum's main feature is Canadian National Railway steam engine 6218. This steam engine was built in 1942 by the Montreal Locomotive Works. The steam engine is a 4-8-4 U-2-g Confederation and is the museum's most prominent artifact.

There is also a Peace Bridge exhibit that traces the history of river crossings between Buffalo and Fort Erie. This exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. The gallery features a panorama image of the bridge that was opened in 1927, and a viewing window that allows visitors to compare the bridge to what it looks like today. It also includes a map wall and an interactive timeline that explains the history of the battle. The gallery is closed on weekday holidays.

There are also a number of outdoor static exhibits that are open year-round. These include a map wall and an interactive timeline for the Battle of Ridgeway. Other displays include a Sally Ports, Officers' Kitchen, and Curtain Stone Wall. There are also a few small house exhibit panels that tell the story of the Battle of Ridgeway from the viewpoint of local residents. this next article

The Battle of Ridgeway Memorial Park is also a major part of the museum's exhibits. The memorial honours those who died in the battle, and it also serves as a reminder of the battle. The Battle of Ridgeway Memorial Park will be re-dedicated in 2016 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Ridgeway. Discover the history of the Fort Erie Railway Museum today.
